The Assessment of Brain Development and Childhood Experiences (ABC) study is a longitudinal study that examines how children grow and develop over the first 18 months of their lives. Our goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of how children’s day-to-day experiences with their caregivers impact brain and behavioral development. This project will use wearable devices to study how family members interact with each other, complete interaction visits with caregivers and their child, and do infant magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to see how their child’s brain is growing across the first year of life. The proposed project will yield extraordinary insight into the early environment from a child-centered perspective and how these experiences help to shape child brain and behavior development.
