The Mother and Infant Mood and Sleep Study (MIMS) aims to examine associations between infant and birth mother mood and sleep across the first four months of an infant’s life. This randomized control trial will provide 20 mother-infant pairs with either a traditional or responsive smart bassinet. Using a combination of self-reports, an under-mattress sleep monitor to measure maternal sleep, and daily assessments, we will track sleep patterns and mood in both infants and mothers. After 4 months, participants will complete questionnaires on child development, temperament, and family characteristics. Insights from this study will inform evidence-based practices and determine the feasibility of a larger-scale study to promote better sleep and mood outcomes for infants and mothers.
